1, THEORY BREIFING 0830 - 0850

2, 4X4 TOW VEHICLE KNOWLAGE 0900 - 0915
Understanding the transfer box, diff lock and handling characteristics of a 4x4 vehicle, torque verses power.

3, TRAILER PRE USE CHECKS. 0915 - 0930
These are to include, weight of trailer (unladen), max permissible gross weight, load weight, gross weight against tow vehicle train weight, tyre pressures and condition, wheel bearings, axel / hitch / brake bar grease points, load securing points, ramp condition (for vehicle trailers), number plate to match tow vehicle and bed strength.

4, COUPLING. 0930 - 0945
Greasing the tow ball and why, correct use of hand-brake, jockey wheel and hitch, connection of brake away line with explanation of its purpose and electrical connection & checks.

COFFEE BREAK 0945 - 1000

5, LOADING 1000 - 1030
Correct weight distribution, Tow ball weight, Covering of loads for security and protection, loading live / dead vehicles and wheeled equipment, use of loading legs correct use of tie down, with rope and straps.

6, HANDLING AROUND A COURSE 1030 - 1100
Trainee to drive around a marked course including tight bends, negotiating obstacles, chicanes at various speeds and emergency braking. Course to be driven with and without load.

7, REVERSING TECHNIQUES 1100 - 1145
Section to be driven in a safe marked out area to include straight line, wide cornering, tight cornering, garage, and obstacles. All cornering to be carried out sight and blind side. Communication, hand signals and safety.

8, ON ROAD DRIVE 1145 – 1200 (weather and road permitting)
Handling and braking while on road, to include increased braking distance, forward planning, correct signals and slower approaches.

LUNCH 1200 - 1300

9, OFF ROAD DRIVE 1300 – 1315 (weather and track permitting)
Handling and braking in mild off-road situations, to include up and down hill, traversing slopes, ramp over and approach / departure undulations.

10, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT 1315 - 1330
Checks of tool kit, sheet / covers / nets, condition of straps, chains and ropes. Basic maintenance and cleaning.
11, EXTRA COVERAGE OF WEAK POINTS 1330 - 1400

11, TEST AND DEBREIF 1400 - 1500
