Itinerary

Depart – London Gatwick

Day 1: Arrive early morning in Windhoek. Pick up fully expedition prepared 4x4 vehicle. The day is spent in Windhoek – recovering from the flight and to explore Namibia’s capital Windhoek at your leisure.

Day 2: Drive to Auss the next day (8+ hours drive).

Day 3: Luderitz – The group assembles in the evening for dinner and a briefing before venturing into the desert the next day.

Day 4-5: Driving in the sand is an adventure, but our expert guides keep a close eye and explain every sand-driving trick via two-way radios. Each night we camp under the stars. (St Francis Bay)

Day 6: The trail leads past abandoned diamond mining equipment before crossing into the dunes on the way to Meob Bay. The dunes get progressively higher testing your newly acquired skills. (Meob)

Day 7: We meet the sea and it’s between Meob Bay and Conception Bay that diamond miners worked in the early 1900’s. We visit the former mining settlements of Holsatia, Charlottenfelder and Grillenberger. (Holsatia)

Day 8: We pass the shipwrecks of the Eduard Bohlen & Shawnee and circumnavigate the salt pans of Sandwich Harbour. It’s a race against the tide today as we reach Langewand – which literally means long wall. Here the dunes fall dramatically into the sea. We drive a small gap between a 300ft wall of sand and the Atlantic Ocean. The night is spent approximately 1.5km from the sea at URI Adventures’ ‘Sandwich camp’.

Day 9: We enter the ‘Roller Coaster’, a series of massive ‘roaring’ slip faces. It’s thrilling driving and gives breathtaking views of Sandwich Harbour. The trail ends at Walvis Bay after a final 50km stretch of beach driving.

Day 10: Exploring Swakopmond with its old German buildings, the prime holiday resort of Namibia. Optional activities include Quadbiking, Dune Boarding and Parasailing
Day 11: and only drive back to Windhoek the next day in time for the evening departure to London Gatwick
