FRENCH GREEN LANE ADVENTURES
Escorted tours are designed for people who want to see parts of countries that are well away from the normal holiday destinations and who wish to enjoy non-competitive and non-damaging 4WD adventure journeys. The LRO club takes pride in the level of personnel attention we offer our members and clients, whether experienced or novices.
Our French green lane adventures are designed to offer you relaxing off-road tours in and around the gorge of the River Allier. Our route goes through dense pine forests, over open hillsides, through ancient villages and along river valleys. The altitude is usually over 1000 metres, and every day brings stunning views across the mountains of the Massif Central. Most of the lanes are rarely used and we can travel for hours without meeting anyone at all.
In this part of France there are hundreds of miles of green lanes that can be legally driven, all the ones we use are legal rights of way, which have been carefully researched.
We ensure the lanes you tackle match your off-roading skills. Some of the tracks are ideal for those with little or no experience, while others are more challenging and will suit skilled off-roaders. Standard 4x4 vehicles with no special equipment will cope easily with the usual routes.
All planning is taken care of by us and includes 4 nights demi-pension at the hotel de la Poste in Brioude, 3 lunches, wine tasting session, cultural visit to historic location and a support vehicle crewed by experienced off-roaders carrying first aid equipment, recovery equipment, some tools and some spares. You will be responsible for your own vehicle but we will try to assist you to the best of our abilities. You are advised to carry some spares for your vehicle e.g. bulbs, hoses, fan belt etc. We alternate our trips and stay at Brioude, Sauges, and Langeac which are small market towns south of Chermont ferrand and west of St Etienne. They have a wide range of supermarkets, restaurants and cafes, Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted for fuel and personnel items.
